Popular Ghanaian comedian, Derick Kobina Bonney, best known in entertainment circles as DKB, has rebuked Counsellor Lutterodt for saying that rape victims enjoy the act. He has made a short video calling out Counsellor Lutterodt to apologize for the statement and refrain from making such comments ever again. He described those comments as words which encouraged rapists to thinking that they are giving victims some form of pleasure with their inhumane act.
DKB gave statistics of how rape is affecting most countries such as Ghana, Egypt and South Africa.
He revealed that in Ghana, 6 out of 10 women are raped every week. According to him, statistics also reveal that there are 500,000 rape cases in South Africa with 9,300 of them happening every week. Furthermore, he disclosed that Egypt has also recorded 200, 000 cases with 3,700 cases happening weekly.
For the comedian, nobody should defend the counselor on this because rape is a canker that society needs to get rid of saying that “it is evil to take someone’s dignity as it is mentally scarring to that person.”
DKB further went on to say that “I have sisters, mothers, aunties, and I would not expect to hear from their abusers that they did it because my loved ones ‘enjoyed the act.’”
He therefore advised the counselor to retract his statement, apologize and distance himself from the statement entirely.
DKB is best known for his satirical way of delivering his comedy, and has performed on big platforms, including the popular MTN Nights of 1016,17,19 and 21 Laugh and Music.
